    Inspiration idea...

    How about teaming up w/ a first grade teacher who has a lower reader that your little guy could read to? You would pick out an appropriate book for him to practice- at school, at home, etc, and then he could read to his book buddy.

    How about magazines?

    How about an older book buddy for him? He teams up w/ this older student and partner reads his AR books w/ this student. They could take turns reading pgs. He may only read 50% of the book that way, but that may be better than what he's doing right now and will hold him more accountable.
