    Literacy/Book Bags

    I currently teach a 2nd/3rd grade split. I wanted to encourage reading at home. I was thinking of doing a book bag, but I am not quite sure what I should include. I was thinking I would send home the class mascot, a book, a journal, an activity. I thought about sending it over the weekend, but would like advice on ideas for the bag and when to send it?
