You might also try contact with parents. Have them call from class in front of peers. This has put a spark in some of their attitudes. This has worked also. One on one conferences with the student during his/her time has done wonders, along with contacting a former teacher he/she liked and having them give the student a talking to. Lastly, find that one thing that he/she finds valuable. If that thing is in jeopardy, you might see a change in work ethic.
