    Well! It might be good to group students in learning pods! This would make them accountable to each other and not the "big, mean teacher"! They do more for each other than us!

    You might also try contact with parents. Have them call from class in front of peers. This has put a spark in some of their attitudes. This has worked also.

    One on one conferences with the student during his/her time has done wonders, along with contacting a former teacher he/she liked and having them give the student a talking to.

    Lastly, find that one thing that he/she finds valuable. If that thing is in jeopardy, you might see a change in work ethic.
