Monday~ I introduced the book, by saying the title. The kids made predictions about the book from the title alone. Then I showed them the cover and we predicted more. Then I introduced the author and told about some of her other books. We talked about New York City and brainstormed what we know about NYC. We talked about setting. I teased them with questions listed in the teacher's guide like "do you like funny stories?" "do you like stories about how much trouble younger brothers and sisters can cause?" etc. Then we created a reader's response journal with lined and unlined paper. Tuesday~ We read chapters 1&2. In their reader's response journal, they drew an illustration of one thing Fudge did to The Yarby's and wrote a sentence about it. Today~ I sent notes home last week asking parent's to provide various juices, paper cups, pitchers, and spoons. Today we work in cooperative groups and created our own version of Juicy-O. We used measuring cups and took notes on our creations, had several samplings and overall had a blast! Tommorow~ We are writing in our rr journal and will be creating questions about favorite drinks to conduct a survey with. Then the results will be used to make bar graphs with. Friday~ We will quiz over the reading material. I also used the vocabulary words (16 words) for chapters 1 & 2 for my spelling work this week! The kids are loving it! Good Luck! Hope this information helps some:) LaKeta
