    Everyday Math?

    Are you using Everyday Math? If so, try teaching the Multiplication Wrestling game. It makes partial products very clear to the kids. Even if you are not using EM, this is a good game.

    I also color-code the numbers as in the example when I first teach it and have the kids use 2 different colors when they play.

    I have NEVER taught the standard way - This is my 4th year teaching 4th grade and we have been using EM for 6 years! Sorry!
