Sounds like my first year with StoryTown!
I like the suggestion of taking two weeks each for lesson 1 and lesson 2. Remember, the curriculum in the manual is only a guide. You can teach it any way you want, as long as you teach the main points. The fold out in the front of the theme will be indispensable in figuring out what's important.
