    and I might have to utilize it!

    Currently in place I do:

    Monday - spelling - add words to their spelling sheet from the cards I put on their desk - then they read quietly (Monday is usually the shortest because we need the most time for Morning Meeting on Monday)

    Tuesday - Read it, Draw it, Solve it problem - then read

    Wednesday - Scholastic News - read it, do the mini lessons, do the back

    Thursday - Tangrams

    Friday - practice spelling

    Sometimes Thursday is poem of the week and Wednesday is Tangrams, it all depends on the schedule.

    Every morning I slot 15 minutes for Welcome Work, so I keep it short enough so that most, if not all the kids can complete it in the given time. Wednesday is always longer, as I like to work with individuals then, so they usually get 30 minutes on Wednesday morning. We check as a class after Morning meeting, anything that needs checking.

    When they finish, they always have 3 options - read, write, or work on a Mastery Quiz (ala Heather Renz!) which keeps them quiet and busy should we need more work time.
