I do NOT do all 15 centers every week!!! Sorry I did not explain that well :( These are my core centers that I have available to choose from! As for my poetry center/poem box, this is that center works: Each child has a poetry binder/folder. Here is the schedule we follow:
MONDAY: I introduce the poem as a shared reading experience. We will reread the poem several times together... (poetry will not be a center choice on the first day)
TUESDAY: Students will receive a copy of the poem with JUST the words and we will be asked to add illustrations to their poem.
WEDNESDAY: Use the poem for some kind of word work: rhymes, blends, vowel sounds, etc. They will use wikki stix, highlighter tape, etc. to find various things!
THURSDAY: Students will have some kind of correlating project/ reading response to complete about the poem (for example: they will make a prop to go with the poem) NOTE: this is not always applicable!
FRIDAY: They will buddy read with a partner and they will practice using some of our "reading techniques"-- reading techniques can be: choral reading, echo reading, alternating, "missing word" (child will skip a word and the partner will have to identify), silly voices (i.e. monster, mouse, cowboy, super fast, super slow, etc.)

My theme pockets have been adapted and created through the series called "Theme Pockets" from Evan-Moor. Basically what a theme pocket is a child-created folder with various activities/projects that go inside of "pockets". Google and look them up for yourself! I love them and have the entire set! I will try my best to find one and post a picture (obviously it is summer and I am not in my classroom right now :( )

HOT DOTS are a super fun game that my students LOVE to play! They are this plastic pens that are "hot" when placed on a sensor and they light up and make noise when a child answers correct. There are pre-made cards for language arts and math, but you can also make your own! The hot dot pens are about $10 and completely worth the purchase. I bought mine from Lakeshore, but they are manufactured by Educational Insights.

I hope this somewhat clears the confusion up and helps :) Feel free to ask more questions!!!
