I am ready to start my yearly planning and really try to figure out what my days, weeks, and quarters will look like this year as I implement a more CAFE style room as well as implementing some of Buckner's notebook ideas. So...any fourth grade teachers want to brainstorm about how they are going to organize their year? Chapter book read alouds that you feel will be powerful--and what you will use them for? I think I am going to start first quarter with a really strong focus on both the procedures of reading and then moving into "features of text"--what do fiction books have (ex. story elements) and nonfiction so we have a foundation to build better upper-level skills. Thoughts?
