I had a student this year whose birthday was in October and she moved here from California. She had already started kindergarten last year and completed it and enrolled in first grade this year before moving to Texas. But the district or school, I'm not really sure who decided it, decided since she was so young, she needed to do kinder again. I think it turned out okay for her, but the poor thing kept reminding me all year that she already went to kinder and started 1st grade in cali. She was the same, maturity wise as most of my students, at the beginning of the year she was ahead of them, but now I think she is at the same place academically as the rest of the students.
