I just got the CAFE book! K questions

For those that teach K when do you start Cafe and how do you tweak it to fit non-readers? I work in a school where several kids will not have attended pre-k and many don't read at home. I know I will need to teach strategies such as reading from left to right, reading the pictures etc. So my questions are:
When do you start?
What strategies do you start with?
How do you change it for K?
How long do your students do each round of D5?
Do you meet with reading groups or just one-on-one?
Does the website answer questions specific to K?
