Out here schools are still interviewing, and will be all summer. I know that some states have more openings than others (I had one friend, from Minnesota, who had to move to North Dakota for work), but there will be more positions opening up for next school year, so don't give up yet. I was also the victim of silence after the interview, and it's pretty annoying and in my opinion unprofessional. But I've learned that you never know what a school's looking for. Sometimes they prefer experienced teachers, or people who have experience with their curriculum. Sometimes there seems to be no sense to things. But don't give up, because someone will want you. If you're willing to look anywhere in a whole state, I'm sure something will come your way. If it comes really close to the school year and nothing has come up, you might want to look elsewhere, but I wouldn't until you have no other choices left.
