I don't teach first, I teach second & really wish the first grade teachers gave timed tests! It would greatly help the kids in memorizing addition & subtraction facts up to 10 so we can move on up to 20 in second grade.
In my class I give the "Mastering Math facts - Otter Creek - Rocket Math" addition, subtraction, and multiplication timed tests. They are 1 minute quizzes with 40 questions. The kids are successful in learning and retaining their facts with it and it only takes 5 - 10 minutes out of my math time each day.
