How about a large earth as your background. Then you can have the students trace their hands and write about ways they can protect the earth (on the hands). The hands can be hung around the earth and you could put the words--
EARTH: It is in our hands!
I did this for a a hallwall a few years back with fourth graders. It looked great with a blue background. The earth was tricky but overheads work well. Good Luck!
