I teach an acronym (which I know many others use in some form)
Does McDonalds Sell Cheese Burgers? The words stand for Divide, Multiply, Subtract, Check (to be sure difference when you subt. is less than divisor) , Bring down (next digit in dividend) or Bring up (remainder). It works for us!
