Ok, I am just finishing up my student teaching but this is what I have learned from the 'seasoned pros' in my area. I live in Louisiana. And in the parish that I applied because of the Union, new teachers don't get a call until around the end of July. The reason is because of what is called 'Job Fair' this is where all the jobs that are available are posted and anyone with a minimum of 1 yr teaching can go. For those of us just starting out, we have to wait until last. Then we are called in for interviews. that .. for lack of a better word.. sucks for us beginning teachers. But anyhow, that is how things work here. This particular parish anyhow.
I would suggest that you ask teachers that you know in your area what the procedures are for where you live. They could give you pointers, etc.Good luck to you.. Trish
