    Hi Kimberly,

When I interviewed for the job I am presently in, I was asked the same question. Here was the reply I gave:

I believe that when teaching reading, I need to give my students the best of both worlds. I do not believe in soley using phonics or whole language approaches, rather I like to blend the best of both to best meet my students needs. By taking the best of both, I am able to make sure many different learning styles are covered and a variety of approaches are used. I feel this helps to keep learning interesting, while the students are still able to master the skills they need to be successful readers.

I don't know if this helps any...but it worked for me! I am very interested in hearing what other have to say...I, too, am looking for a new position!!
