I, too, love that video! Every year I show it and the kids are in awe. They gasp when they hear the word "negro", but it leads into a great discussion. I explain that it wasn't considered as derogatory as the other "n" word. I think that's what they're thinking. They also don't understand the terminology of "colored" people.
Surprisingly, 3 of the other 3rd grade teachers didn't like the video! I was shocked! Have you heard of other teachers who didn't like it? I thought it was wonderful!
