my idea for this year...

is to let the kids teach it. Most of my geometry unit is not new to my 5th graders. I am going to assign each pair of students 1 vocabulary term (like line, ray, right angle, etc.) 1 shape and 1 solid. For the term they will have to give the definition, symbol, show a model (made of pretzel sticks, frosting, and alphabet cereal), and a real-world example. For the shape they will have to give the definition, model (made of toothpicks and marshmellows), and a real-world example. For the solid they will have to give the definition, net, model (made of toothpicks and marshmellows), and a real-worl example. The rest of the class will fill in a chart with the information but the kids are in charge.
