I love reading Jan Brett books at Christmas, especially Wild Christmas Reindeer and Christmas Trolls. I have a hardcover book entitled Jan Brett's Christmas Treasury which includes the following stories: The Mitten, The Wild Christmas Reindeer, Trouble with Trolls, The Twelve Days of Christmas, The Hat, Christmas Trolls, and The Night Before Christmas.
Another Christmas tradition I have is to have the kids listen to the old radio program "The Cinnamon Bear". There are about 25 or so short (5-10 minutes) episodes from the 1930's about two children in search of the star for the top of their Christmas tree in the company of a tiny stuffed bear named Paddy O'Cinnamon in a place called "Maybe Land" It's absolutely delightful and replaces some of my read-aloud time in December. We'll start right after Thanksgiving. I own the set on cassette tapes and I'm sure it's out on CD, but if you google it, you can find sites that will stream the episodes to your computer for free!
