A suggestion I received for a specific child

I had a student last year who never could find her pencil or would break it repeatedly. It was one of a number of attention seeking behaviors on her part. The district behaviorist (I didn't even know we had one until then.) told her she could have two or three (can't remember which) sharp pencils for the day. When they were gone, she had to do the rest of her work as homework. It worked! She kept track fo the pencils and they didn't break any more. I tried this on another student who constantly got up for a new pencil from the sharpened pencils cup. It was magic! This year, I don't have anyone who needs them excessively--yet.
