I tend to try projects that become lifeforms, difficult to manage within required time frames, difficult to set up as research and difficult to manage... In my class, we met in small groups for several weeks discussing various ideas for our action research. The feedback i received was to start small, and my professor is helping us narrow our focus. I have decided to do my project on fluency. Lots of my 5th grade kiddos need help here. I already have baseline fluency scores. I need to plan how to set up repeated rereading teams, which will be the centerpiece of my project. These teams will help document fluency growth using graphs. Following my action research, I will administer another fluency probe and document growth or lack thereof. I also need to plan a presentation for my masters colleagues demonstrating my action research...and, oh yeah....I will likely end up with approx. 40 pages, yes 4 chapters chronicling my project and my written reflections from 5 or more scholarly articles supporting fluency intervention strategies. Can someone tell me if I am on the right track? This is a shot in the dark here....Thanks!
