grandparents day

We also have grandparents visit our school. I have my students interview them. They use a clipboard and like the "professional" feel to the interview. Sample questions are like; how much was a gallon of gas, what was the price of a McDonalds hamburger, did your ancestors come through Ellis Island, etc. After they interview their grandparents they fill out a Venn Diagram and compare themselves to their grandparents. I also have a center available with colonial games that students/grandparents can play together. It's always an enjoyable time to have them visit classrooms. It generates a lot of interesting conversation.
