    What is wrong with moderation?

I agree that candy and other unhealthy choices send the wrong message to kids when used on a daily basis. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong to having it in moderation. If a child has allergies, modifications can be made. However, people can be allergic to just about anything, including fresh fruit and vegetables. Please don't promote an all or nothing message--big brother already interferes enough. Parents can and should take responsibility to teach their children healthy eating habits, and teachers can model responsible behavior by not rewarding their students with sweets and fats. And why shouldn't people be allowed to celebrate a child's birthday? They spend a lot of their time in school, and that's why it is a treat, not a daily occurrence. It's supposed to be special. I agree with your basic message, but I am tired of extremes.
