    I do love healthy food

I agree with you, this generation of kids have a lot of health issues. I can't believe I have second graders that are bigger than I am, no kidding! And it's not only about being heavy, it's all it represents...diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiac issues, not to mention self-esteem. It breaks my heart when I think how these kids' lives will be like in a near future.

My school district has very specific guidelines. Some of them are:

No candy can be given to students (except 2 days a year: Xmas and Valentine's Day, or Easter you choose). Unfortunately, we do give them junk food those 2 days.

If you want to treat your students you have to give them a healthy snack like low fat-sugar crackers, cheerios, popcorn, ice pops etc.

Vendor machines have been removed from the cafeteria (only teachers have access to them).
