I read the books before I put them in my library. It is a lot of reading, but I don't feel comfortable putting books in my library until I read them. I teach sixth grade and there are some books that even though they are recommended for sixth graders - I don't feel they belong in my library. (For example, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series - if a parent wants to buy the books for their kids great - I just don't feel comfortable providing it for students due to some of the content. I worry that some parents might be upset if their child reads it and brings up questions of the content etc...) I also like reading all of the books because it makes it easier for me to recommend books to my students and I am able to really discuss the books with my students.
