    I feel your pain.

I use my bookshelves to create nooks in my big open room. I do not have desks, and we work a lot on the floor, but, by using my low shelves as half walls, I've created some smaller areas and cozy places.

I made cheap curtains from Wal-Mart $1 fabrics for the windows - just for the bottom 15 inches to keep the kids from staring out at the neighborhood or into the class we can see into.

I have three outlets (for six plugs) in my room. From them, I have two refrigerators, two microwaves, a water cooler, a computer/monitor/printer, two floor lamps, a listening center, a radio, an electric pencil sharpener, and three fans. I like power strips too.

My two floor lamps are tucked where shelves meet and make odd corners - my 24 kids and 3 adults did pretty well last year with the space and the modifications I've made this year aren't that drastic. I think we'll be ok.

Previously, I've but bulletin board boarders around white/chalkboards - a little color and life for them. I use the area above those boards for posting things. I also find fabric better to cover bulletin boards because it doesn't show holes or fade the way paper does.

If you can, I/we would be better able to help if you had a picture or two to show us.
