Kissing up to parents...but how about having to kiss up to them???

Yes, I think this is very true. Even I, a first year teacher, have noticed kissing up to parents on behalf of our principal. It upsets me that that instead of doing as you suggested above...they just do whatever the parents want. It seems to me unfair to not give the teacher a chance to prove themselves a worthy teacher to an upset parent. Giving in to every demand any parent wishes seems to me just to reinforce the fact in the parents mind that perhaps that teacher really WAS a bad one, if the prinicpal gives no backing.

On another note...has anyone had a problem in having to kiss up to their prinicpal??? At our school I have notice that if you want to get anywhere you best make yourself a "buddie" aka "kissup" to the prinipal. If the prinicipal here doesn't like you, you are given bad reviews, horrid tasks, no support whatsoever, and given the cold shoulder. If the prinicpal doesn't like you here, he will do his best to send you off to the country school and make sure you never teach in town again! How horrible. Often this occurs over nothing more then a little disagreement of viewpoints. Does anyone else ever have this problem?
