    "Big" kids vs. "Little" kids

    I'm starting my student teaching in 4th grade soon. This summer I worked at a daycamp with K-6th graders. There were two kids who were my "favorites" (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to have favorites, but I did). I told my husband all summer I was going to bring them home with me. One was in 1st grade, the other 5th.

    The 1st grader and I would talk about toys and sandcastles, and I hugged him a lot and played with him and basically mothered him. It was great.

    The 5th grader would sit beside me and read the newspaper with me (cool kid, huh?) and discuss movies and music. He would run errands for me and sometimes tell me about girls. It was great, too.

    Two totally different ages, but two great relationships!
