    We keep our schedule regular, but we do a lot of read aloud. I have books for every part of the day that we read. For example I read the Recess Queen before we go out for recess and we briefly discuss playground rules before going outside. We review these norms each day so I don't spend a lot of time on them.

    I also read Officer Buckle and Gloria and then have the kids think of "Safety Tips" which we write and illustrate on yellow stars and post in the room.

    We do a little room tour and discuss jobs.

    We have library explore time and see what kids of books we can find.

    We do a supply sort. The kids bring their supplies the night before and the next day at math we designate boxes for extra glue sticks, pencils, markers, folders, etc. and the kids have to sort their supplies into the correct bin. Then we put the things staying in our desks back in a neat way.

    We also make our art mats, laminated construction paper (11x17 size) with the kids names in word art so they can color them in. We also make our name cards for graphing.

    We read a book about going home, I can't remember the title, and then graph how we get home.
