turning down assignments By Terri
|
| I think being a responsible and cooperative person is the most important part of being a sub. If you don't think you have been trained to handle a certain subject or group, please tell the sub caller that. I always tell the sub caller, that while I am not comfortable teaching shop or art or advanced science, I am willing to be a warm body in the classroom. When no one else is available, at least I am willing to pitch in. On the subject of special ed., please talk to the sub caller about what kind of assignments are available. In my area, there are different levels of special ed. and I am very happy to take the Learning Disabled students. I do refuse classes with large amounts of BD kids. I am always disappointed to see, on this site, the bad rap that many special ed. kids get. Communication is the key!
