    Rti

It is not going well in our school at all! It it mostly because we don't have the support we need to service all the kids who need it, our principal is not listening to teachers about what is needed...Over half of our student population is considered at risk.

Add to that the fact that every building has their own thinking when it comes to how it is supposed to work, what the tiers are and how the time in each should be used...it is VERY frustrating.

The meetings are endless and I am sick of giving up my lunch hours to meet and talk about kids..I have met with the committee at least 2 times per month per kid I referred and am just now convincing them to test two of my kids because they haven't make enough progress.

I feel for the special ed teacher...she has a TON of meetings for RTI and all the paperwork that goes with it.

There are many pitfalls (at least for us-lack of leadership is a big issue) but I can see the benefits if there is a strong leader, organized staff and TRUST between the admin and teachers...our meetings and support would work better if we as teachers had input as to who our students see and work with and when!

It is great to talk to the "experts" and get ideas for working with those that need more support. It is a lot of paper work and documentation.

    Good luck.
