    but those Create-Your-Own adventure books are fun. You read a passage of (usually) 1-4 pages and then it will pose a question--"if you think he should (option A)...., go to page 47. If you think he should (option B), go to page 19..." Then go go another 1-4 pages and it happenes again and again until you get the story done. A half dozen kids could read it and rarely come up with exactly the same story. They are pretty cool...Here is a website with some sample stories available--

    There are also chapter books and small books out there.
