    Clip to ScrapBook

I had a similar class last year and the way I motivated the others was to award those who showed kindness with some special time. I had lunch with those who showed kindness without being asked. I also praised them when they showed just the least amount. Another reward was on Fridays those who had worked well with one another were allowed to go to Kindergarten to read a special book. Just try and always look at the bright side. This year I have one who is horrible, but I know it is not their fault, because this is the kind of talk they receive at home. You can always have lunch with one at a time and talk about why they are the way they are and try and understand where they come from. In the past I have had several students that all they hear at home is negativity. It is hard to break the cycle, but by showing them there is another way to talk to others might actually turn out to be the best. There are always some you will never reach, but you would be amazed how far a few words go these days.
