    Questions about TAAS

The test is based on academics. All regular ed kids take TAAS on their grade level. Now all special ed kids except those who are exempt because of special special needs such as life skills or lower are required to take the Alternative test. The child is given the test on their academic level. A child could be in the 6th grade but reading on a 2nd grade level and would take the 2nd grade Alternative TAAS and the material would be of a topic interesting to a 6th grade child not a 2nd. The test is age and grade level appropriate. Hope this makes sense and isn't too confusing.
