    Here's an example:

    Pronouns take the place of specific nouns.

    Dear Awesome Authors,

    You have been working very hard on your books. Today we will add more details. Did you see what Joey did? He put more paper on the bottom of his piece. We will look at it more during writer's workshop.

    I might have the pronouns highlighted or not, depending on how far along the release of responsibility we are. So if this were the first day of pronouns, I would simply teach them what a pronoun is and circle one or two for them in the message. If it were the end of the week, I might ask them to write on their white board or tell their partner what specific noun "he" replaces or to simply write one pronoun they see.

    The subjects of the messages vary, but usually- like in this one- they preview a later lesson. On special event days, they usually are about the event. I also write a lot that tell about new books, changes in the library, or classroom issues.
