I just recently had a similar situation in my class. I have a student who is emotional disturbed, however, he is classified as multiply disabled. He was upset because I told him to put a scissor away (that was not provided by the school.) His full-time aide went to get help from the administration, and in the mean time he threw a stapler across the room almost hitting two other students. After I removed the other students from class, I tried to console him, unfortunately this resulted in a looseleaf binder being thrown into my stomach. The student did not do it intentionally, however, he was suspended for five days. Parents are considering alternative placement, but until that time, he is legaly allowed back in my classroom. Students (and myself) are terrified that he might have this violent impulsive behavior once again in class. This is not the first time he has been suspended for violent behavior. He has missed 10 days of school for having to be suspended.
