    I've worked in a school where a teacher frequently used the f-word around me and the other teachers (never around the principal). I was shocked. When I student taught, my cooperating teacher was pretty vulgar too, and she didn't care which adults heard it.

    I'll admit that even though I try not to say inappropriate things, even at home, I have done it around 2 of my coworkers who are more like friends. No one was within earshot, though, and it's not a normal habit. I was just very angry.

    I think it's common among many adults, not just teachers. My mom, who's not a teacher, told me that one of her coworkers used to use profanity around her all the time until one day she asked her to stop. The lady actually felt bad and apologized. My mom even quit one of her jobs because her boss yelled profanity all the time.
