    Take a moment to think

about what is most important to you. I already had four children when I gradutated from college, so there was no choice for me. In fact my oldest graduated from junior hi the same year I graduated from college.
I however, got to go to Europe when I graduated from high school. It was a memorable experience and I still think fondly of my travels. A teacher I used to work with went to Japan to teach for two years, then came home, taught for a couple more years married in the mean time, then went some where in Central America to teach with her husband. They were wanting to become more fluent in Spanish since our area is growing in Hispanic people.
I got RIFfed from my job and ended up coming to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and I teach out here. I am moving back home, jobless, because my husband didn't get to retire like we thought he would and I miss him a lot.
Go with your gut. If you decide to travel, make sure you have the family support. Helps when you get homesick. Remember, if you are teaching in an area that is in need of teachers, you will always have a job. If you are from an area that is saturated with teachers, and you want to stay there, get the job now and travel in the summer.
Good Luck with the decision you make.
