    Took me 2 tries...

it took me two school years to complete. I missed by 25pts the first go around. Our district is CRAZY with demands on teacher time in the classroom, so I decided to redo 3 assessment center exercises instead of any portfolio pieces. I found out in December that I passed.

It was definitely worth it... in NC the 12% pay raise is retro-active to August, so I'll be getting an extra big check soon. Also, the state paid the entire fee for my first attempt, and then paid for 1 of my retakes (my dad paid the other two! Gotta love dads!) I feel like a MUCH more reflective teacher now and much more willing to take risks in the classroom and think out of the box instructionally.

I started this when my kids were 4 and 2 - they are now 6 and almost 4. :) I didn't go to any meetings - I tried, but felt the meetings my district offered were time wasters. I worked much better on my own. I found some readers at my school, but it was a solo effort. :) There shouldn't be ANY required classes or meetings to attend.
