Easy Applesauce Cake 1 box Duncan Hines Deluxe Spice Cake mix 1 can (15 oz) applesauce 2 eggs 1/4 cup oil Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Into a 13x9 cake pan pour the oil. Tilt the pan to allow oil to cover the bottom. Empty the dry cake mix into the pan, along with the applesauce and eggs. Mix with fork until well-blended. (I have a mini-whisk I used.) Bake 35-45 minutes. (Mine was done at 30 minutes.) Test by inserting toothpick in middle of cake. We actually made 2 at the same time, and it worked beautifully. We had some left-overs that the kids wanted to share with other teachers. As an added activity, the students had to practice with each other what they would say to the teacher when asked about the type of cake. It allowed the students to practice summarizing in real-life situations. Thank goodness all the adults who were given a piece were thoughtful enough to ask about the choice of cake! I had not prompted them!
