I take my first graders to the bathroom

to wash hands, then we walk all the way back down the hall to get our lunch tickets and then back to go to lunch. Sounds silly, I know, but it does make the impression that hand washing is important. If we're rushed for times I take the lunch tickets with us, but I don't let them take them into the restroom. I pass them out when they come out. In a pinch, we use the hand sanitizer, but we really need the restroom break about that time.
