    Clip to ScrapBook

I think, but I'm not sure, that doing Literacy Work Stations does not really go along with Reader's Workshop.

I think instead, Reader's Workshop and Work Stations are separate options as to the "what do they do when I am meeting with groups?"

When I am meeting with groups, my kids usually work on their reading group assignment and then silent read. Once a week, they write in a response journal. The response journal is an idea related to Reader's Workshop where they write a letter about what their thoughts of what they are reading. I open it up to whatever they want me to know though. Some talk about what they are reading but a lot talk about family problems or problem areas in their life.

The last 10 minutes of our reading block is when I "let" them do their work stations. We also sometimes do them during the intervention block at the end of the day (a time when speech, gifted, etc. meets).

It's working for me right now but I am always tweaking things! I don't think my approach is really any of the methods. Maybe I should write a book and become famous (ha!).
