I allowed them last year and it went well. I did ask them to put it beside their desk so it wouldn't sweat on their desktop and papers. We only had a couple of spills during the year, but it's only water. (We had more spills from the fruit juice that the school sells for snack.) My kids refilled at the sink as needed and I didn't stand counting at a water fountain a single time all year.
