Every Day Counts Math By mlg
|
| This is a required element of my district's math program for grades 1-6 and has been for the past three years. I find that my third-graders are much better equipped to recognize patterns, geometric shapes, multiples, factors, etc. than were those in my fifth-grade class several years ago. I attribute a lot of this to the fact that my current students have always had this as part of their curriculum (along with Investigations). The key is to spend about 10-15 minutes each day going over all of the elements of the activities for the month. All of my kids, even the ones who tend to struggle in math, are able to grasp the concepts and can easily go through the routines independently.
