    What grade?

I teach 3rd grade and we use a grade level rotation for UA. We use the Baseline Group Test at the beginning of the year to determine students reading levels. We have students in each group> ELL, extra support, on level, and challenge. The students rotate to the teacher assigned to their group. Teachers use the supplemental handbooks from HM.

Last year I provided UA in my own classroom, using small groups at each level. Again, I used the supplemental handbooks which lay out the daily lesson for you.

I prefer doing UA in my own classroom. The curriculum is designed to be implemented using small groups, and it's much easier to give the students individual attention using this approach. I hope my principal will allow us to do it this way next year.

By the way, I'm not sure what Reading First is. Is that an HM program? Perhaps your UA, and all the supplemental components, is not the same as mine.
