Need for Lesson Plan

No, a lesson plan is NEVER a waste of time. I have had student teachers who also have had to write "detailed" plans that they didn't like. I understand how time-consuming and unnecessary they may seem to be. However, you are still at the "learning" stage & I feel your professors (and others) are just wanting to make sure that you are aware of all that is going on in your classroom. When you have your own classroom, you will probably not be required to make such elaborate plans. But DO always have a plan. In fact, although I am a very "seasoned" teacher, I like to have thorough plans just in case I have to be out and need a sub at the last minute. Hang in there & remember "this too shall pass."
