Groundhog Day By ConnieWI
I am sure my school observes Groundhog Day, but not as a whole school activity. We each do some type of activity in our own classrooms. Here are things I have done in the past:
--www.enchantedlearning.com has some great activities. You have to be a member or your school district has to be a member in order to download them. The ones I like are "Groundhog Venn Diagrams #1 and #2," "Groundhog Day Analogies.", and "Fractions of Groundhogs." If you just click on "Groundhog Day," you can get to any of these.
--I also like to read or have these books available for students to enjoy:
Groundhog Day (Gibbons)
The Groundhog Day Book of Facts and Fun (Old and Billin-Frye)
Groundhog Day (Yoder)
Geoffrey Groundhog Predicts the Weather (Kodcielniak)
Go to Sleep, Groundhog! (Cox)
Gretchen Groundhog, It's Your Day! (Levine)
A Garden for Groundhog (Balian)
Groundhog Day (Becker)
It's Groundhog Day (Kroll)
Substitute Groundhog (Miller)
Fluffy Meets the Groundhog (McMullan)
G is for Groundhog, P is for Punxsutawney: Phil's Alphabet Book (Mountran)
Greedy Groundhogs (Delton)
Gregory's Shadow (Freeman)
The Secret of the First One Up (Arno)
--I am also attaching a fact/opinion activity and some reader's theater scripts.
