Observation lesson
By Lillie

Clip to ScrapBook
One lesson I have done in the past is about each of us being unique. I have a box wrapped in white tissue box and tell the group since our principal is visiting we each get a surprise. I open the box to reveal it's empty!
I tell them how disappointed and embarrassed I am...then I spot a clue...fingerprints!! We discuss each person's uniqueness and fingerprint patterns. We then fingerprint each finger (using pencil markings from rubbing your pencil on paper, then smearing it on your finger). We then compare all our cards with the fingerprint patterns and come up with our "thief". This is a child who you know
you can trust to keep a secret and will "Play along" and not get upset when the others accuse him/her of being a thief. Both the students and appraiser absolutely LOVED this lesson. We then open the surprise-can be anything from stickers to pencils, etc. GOOD LUCK!
