sometimes..... By Cathy-Dee

All you can do is shake your head and wonder about what some people are thinking when they do things. This parent sounds very much like a parent I had once and to be honest there is often little you can do to please them| or to mend fences, etc., All this parent wants to hear is that everything is fine and if she calls you over the holidays chances are she is trying to either bully you into saying what she wants or irritating you enough that you would say what she wants to hear. As I advised to another poster on a different board - If I was in your shoes I would have the school secretary phone the mother | | the first day back to school with a message that you are available during the following times (give her 3 or 4 options) or that if possible you will try to accomodate her for a later evening time so you can discuss her child's progress. If she does not book a time - then talk to your administrator (which I would probably do anyway just so they have the heads up on what happened) and let the administrator know that you would really like to meet with this parent and why and could he call the parent. Some parents need to have the administration push them into action. And yes if I were you I would have someone else sit in on the interview with you just to keep things covered as this sounds like a parent who wouldn't have a problem complaining to powers higher up.
